THE SCOTLAND DAY RUN!! Ellen's first official NYC race, on March 30
th, came one day before our
official one year engagement anniversary. Big weekend in the Simmer Household!
Rock helped ring in the festivities by unfurling and then...
chewing on the official flag of Scotland.
Never to be outdone....Craig showed up with his own personalized mini Scotland flag proclaiming "Run Ellen Run - Go Ellen!". In case the subtly is lost on anyone...please note the
picture of Central Park (where the race was held) in the
background. Nice use of props Craig! Even though Craig could not participate in the race (anyone wondering why, please see the previous post regarding his recent knee
surgery) he did win the Best Supporting Cast award. Best
cheering/sweats holding/picture taking teammate ever!
In true Sims Fashion - we arrived just in time to run to the starting line. Check out that amazing running form. Next stop...the Olympics!!
Finished! The heroin of the race (that would be Ellen) finished the 10K race in under an hour...8 minute, 17 second mile splits to be exact -
wooo!!! While the picture doesn't show it, the finish line was at the Tavern On The Green...another one of our favorite NYC
hot spots!
What better way to relax after a big run but to go to a dog park??!!?? Right on the Hudson River, sun shining, no leash required...perfect! At first Rock wasn't sure that he wanted to socialize with the other dogs. But he soon decided that it was much more fun to make friends.
Here's Mom and Rock talking Dog Park Politics with China (on the bench) and Berkley (on the
ground). We have decided that we'll come back to this dog park every weekend that the weather permits (which will hopefully be from now until next winter!)
This picture just shows how much Rock has grown. Check out the Blog post from October 07'. Same pose...much bigger dog! Amazing that we can even pick him up any more. Funny...since we live with the pup we hardly notice the difference from when we brought him home to now. But a picture says a thousand words...or, in this case, pounds! Our boy is growing up!! And he's about to have his first official sleepover...at doggie day care. We are heading off for a weekend in London so stay tuned for pictures from our next big adventure!
